SPRINGFIELD, Missouri 鈥聽The 91精品 Music Department is proud to present its spring concert series this month. All events are free, and the public is invited to attend.
Concerts include the following:
- Symphonic Band & Jazz Orchestra Concert: Tuesday, April 12, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall.
- University Orchestra Concert: Tuesday, April 19, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in Spence Chapel.
- Choral Concert: Thursday, April 21, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Barnett Recital Hall.
The Symphonic Band & Jazz Orchestra Concert is directed by Justin Stanton, Evangel鈥檚 director of bands. The concert will feature several notable pieces, including 鈥淧haraoh鈥檚 Funk鈥 by Erik Sherburne and 鈥淵orkshire Ballad鈥 by James Barnes.
The University Orchestra Concert is directed by Dr. Larry Dissmore, Evangel鈥檚 director of orchestral activities and professor of music. The concert will feature a diverse song selection, including 鈥淧raise to the Lord the Almighty鈥 arranged by Dan Goeller and Stephen Sondheim鈥檚 鈥淣o One is Alone鈥 from the Broadway musical 鈥淚nto the Woods.鈥
The concert will also feature soloists Amica Bonitz and Jonathan Martin, both Evangel seniors and Music Education majors.
The Choral Concert will feature the University Choral, Evangel鈥檚 45-member select choir, performing under the direction of Dr. Tom Matrone, chair of Evangel鈥檚 Music Department and director of choral activities. The concert will also include performances by the University Chorus and Men鈥檚 Vocal Ensemble, directed by Dr. Kevin Hawkins, and the Women鈥檚 Chamber Ensemble, also directed by Matrone.

The Music Department at 91精品 is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and offers majors in Music, Music Education, Music Performance, Music: Recording Technology and Music: Worship Leadership. Each program is carefully designed to ensure that students build聽strong聽musical skills, gain professional training, and experience a wide range of musical activities.
